The National Puzzlers’ League
The National Puzzlers’ League (NPL) is a playground for puzzle lovers—a vibrant community of wordsmiths, puzzle-makers, and puzzle-solvers who live for that “aha!” moment. Founded in 1883, it is the world’s oldest puzzling organization. If you’ve ever spent hours decoding a cryptic crossword, delighted in a well-crafted palindrome, or anagrammed a name just for the fun of it … the NPL might be for you!
You can learn more about the NPL throughout this site, but some highlights include:
1
The Enigma
The Enigma, our monthly magazine full of puzzles (primarily flats, which are rarely seen outside the NPL) contributed by our members. You can check out a free “mini” Enigma to see what it’s like.
2
Convention
Our annual convention, a weekend full of puzzles and games – meet other puzzlers like you in person! We meet in a different city every year to play games together in person and revel in the creativity of our fellow constructors.
3
Online meetups
Our weekly online meetups and Facebook group full of puzzles.
4
Games of the NPL
Games developed by our members, which we play in person and online.
